The north-western region of Liguria in Italy – located along the Italian Riviera – is set to receive a huge boost as five of the area’s most prominent superyacht marinas band together under one banner for the first time.
Marina di Loano, Marina Genova, Marina Porto Antico, Marina Molo Vecchio and Porto Lotti will work together to promote the local area and compete in a busy international market. Together the five marinas can offer moorings for almost 2,500 recreational vessels, including some of the largest superyachts on the market today – up to 130 metres LOA.
In addition to berthing options, these marinas also offer a wide range of technical and logistical services, as well as hospitality and recreation for owners, guests and crewmembers. The five hubs, presented as Liguria For Yachting, will serve as “access portals” to “extraordinary tourist experiences” and provide a boost to the entire region.
“This is a starting point," said Fabio Pesto, chairperson of Marina Molo Vecchio's board of directors and chairperson of Liguria For Yachting. "It is a significant stimulus for boating and the whole of Liguria. We are convinced that working as a system, in a sector where there is great competitiveness and many, different elements in terms of choice and success, gives us the edge.”
Giuseppe Pappalardo, CEO of SPP – the company managing Marina Genova – and vice chairperson of Liguria For Yachting, added, "This summer we are recording a higher number of boats and increases in average stays. This trend has convinced us even more so about our project's value and objectives. We are committed to strengthening the network in the future, taking new economic opportunities together and developing the potential for tourism along with recreational boating, hopefully in synergy with local and national institutions."
Liguria For Yachting will feature a notable presence at upcoming events such as Cannes Yachting Festival, Genoa Boat Show and Boot Dusseldorf.
