Lobanov Yacht Design unveils 110m ethereal superyacht Shy

Italian yacht designers, Lobanov Yacht Design have unveiled their ground-breaking exterior design for the 110m Oceanco superyacht Shy for the first time this week, ahead of her concept appearance at the upcoming Monaco Yacht Show.

Shy is currently in build at Oceanco's yard in Alblasserdam, and is much anticipated due to her organically inspired superstructure, which, like many of Lobanov’s other superyacht designs, is unlike anything else on the market.

Traditional straight exterior lines are replaced by a flowing ribbon-like contours, not only for their striking looks, but also for to provide a practical degree of privacy for the owner and guests —- hence her name.

Translucent and ethereal, she has no visible horizontal deck spaces outside, which provides a feeling of privacy from outside which doesn’t compromise panoramic views from inside, according to her designers.

Speaking of the yacht’s superstructure, Igor Lobanov commented, “That’s how we see the way to express a feeling of privacy from outside which doesn’t compromise panoramic views from inside. Lightweight and translucent, Yacht Shy will keep your secrets.”

The ground-breaking nature of Shy joins Lobanov’s previous unconventional designs, such as Star, White Night and Phoenicia.

She follows the 85m Oceanco superyacht St. Princess Olga into production, and is currently in the final stages of completion, expecting to be launched later this year. Once launched, she will be the largest yacht ever built in the Netherlands, in both length and size.

Details of the superyacht remain scarce at this stage, but known notable features include a glass elevator, and a 50m2 swimming pool on the main aft deck.
