Lürssen’s Project Mistral completes sea trials

The latest superyacht offering from Lürssen, Project Mistral, has completed her sea trials, having headed up the Kiel canal supported by several passing vessels.

Docked at Lürssen’s Rendsburg facility in Germany, her exterior design has been completed by Espen Øino. She has a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, spanning five decks. She was officially launched in April 2016, with her keel laid over two years later in September 2013.

Many details surrounding Project Mistral are yet to be determined, including her official LOA which has not yet been confirmed. Lürssen had previously revealed that she measures over 100m overall, however according to reports, her actual length is around 104m. If confirmed, she will enter the list of the world’s largest superyachts once delivered later this year.

Following her delivery, Mistral is expected to sail towards the Middle East to join a fleet of superyachts already docked there.

News about Project Mistral follows an earlier announcement from Lürssen regarding the delivery of Dilbar to the Mediterranean which, with a total internal volume of 15,917GT, is now the world’s largest volume superyacht.
