Luca Vallebona unveils 62m Broadway concept

Italian yacht designer Luca Vallebona has showcased his new superyacht concept – the 62-metre (203-foot) Broadway. It follows on from Vallebona’s 82-metre (269-foot) Pentagramma design, which was publicly revealed in May.

As the name implies, Broadway is inspired by Manhattan’s world-renowned theatres and the grid-like structure of New York City. It would be built with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and feature a 1,100GT displacement.

The eye-catching exterior boasts stylistic elements recalling a golden age of discovery, with brass-framed porthole windows and pillars above the main deck bulwarks.

A strong focus has been placed on outdoor living aboard Broadway, with a spa pool and seating area with fire pit forward on the bow, and numerous terraces throughout – including a private owner’s terrace on the bridge deck. The concept also offers a beach club aft and an upper deck pool with sunpads, and a helipad that can be transformed into an additional sunbathing area.

Moving inside, Broadway features a double-height main saloon that can be accessed directly from the lower deck gym/diving area and beach club via a staircase. Large sliding windows on either side of the saloon provide access to folding balconies that are equipped with two catamaran-style hammocks which, according to Vallebona, removes the awkward formality usually felt by guests in this area.

The main saloon would also house a bar and dining area, while forward of this would be a spacious crew area, galley and wine cellar and day head, which the owner can choose to have joined on to the main saloon via sliding walls should they wish.

Vallebona stated, “I wanted to imagine that these two worlds, often hidden one from the other, could be joined through a simple system of moving walls, so crew and guest areas could lose their limits to become a connected space to be lived in together. This is an opportunity to look at the new generations, considering a new way to use spaces and create relationships aboard in a less formal way.”

On-board accommodation is for 12 guests and includes an amidships owner’s suite on the bridge deck, accessed via a private staircase and split over two decks. Four further cabins can be found forward on the lower deck, while this space also benefits from a full-beam multi-use area, containing two fold-out balconies which could be utilised as a fifth cabin, spa or playroom depending on the owner’s preference.
