British-based studio Malcolm McKeon Yacht Design has revealed a new superyacht concept, 51m sailing yacht MM51.
The project has been developed in partnership with a shipyard which has not yet been named, and is said to be in the pre-engineering phase. The estimated delivery date for the yacht is currently said to be late 2018, with an order placed before the end of 2016.
The MM51 features a sloop design and 10m beam, which will be built from aluminium. The design draws on the development of Vitters sailing superyacht, Missy. She features a square-top mainsail with a 68.5m tall rig, and a lifting keel allowing the draught to be reduced from 7.2m to 4.75m, to enable shallow water cruising.
A standout feature on board MM51 will be a glass canopy, designed to create a light and airy feel. She will also feature reflective interlayers in her glass panels, and heat reflective pigments in her paint.
The glass feature is designed to extend over the cockpit, flowing between interior and exterior spaces. Other standout features include a fully automated sail handling system, and foredeck tender garage which can also be transformed into a swimming pool.
Accommodation is available on board for 10 guests, and includes a master stateroom and four guest suites, which all feature large hull windows.
