Marc Anthony’s $7m yacht catches fire and capsizes in Miami marina

Andiamo, a 37-metre (120-foot) superyacht reportedly belonging to Grammy-award winner Marc Anthony, went up in flames before capsizing in Miami last night (18th December).

The City of Miami Fire Rescue revealed in a tweet that Anthony’s $7 million superyacht, which was docked at the Island Gardens Marina, caught fire before emergency crews responded at 7:30pm.

The 51-year-old singer is believed to be in Puerto Rico in the final date of his OPUS tour.

Photos show fire ripping through the yacht’s exterior and burning the upper deck as it steadily crept towards the roof. Dark smoke could be seen at the scene, engulfing the immediate area and surrounding responding fire-fighters who were attempting to extinguish the flames.

Miami Fire Rescue Cpt. Ignatius Carroll told news source WSVN that the scene remained manic as crews began to tackle the inferno.

“It’s still a very active scene right now. Because of the amount of fire on that ship, we had to take more of a defensive attack, so we have our fire boats with Miami-Dade County as well,” he noted.

The fire was under control inside two hours, but since then the yacht capsized. There are no reported injuries at this stage.

Anthony was not on-board when the fire broke out, but the six or seven crew members who were on the vessel were able to evacuate safely.

It is unclear what caused the fire, but it is currently under investigation.
