Marina Port de Mallorca has managed to obtain the Blue Flag award for its clients, motivating them to maintain high environmental standards.
The well-known Blue Flag is one of the world's most recognised voluntary awards for beaches, marinas, and sustainable boating operators.
Kiboko 3, a 32-metre (104-foot) Southern Wind sailing yacht, has been one of the first boats to obtain this accreditation, responding to its firm commitment and practice in caring for the environment.
The practices that make Kiboko 3 stand out are its commitment to extracting sewage in port, the use of ecological cleaning products and even the inclusion of environmentally friendly uniforms, and much more.
Oscar Fernández, captain of Marina Port de Mallorca, commented, “There are more and more vessels interested in carrying this Blue Flag award; we are processing the accreditation for some more clients who choose to care for the environment.”
The information campaign that Marina Port de Mallorca has put into practice has already led to several clients showing interest in obtaining this international award, granted by ADEAC FEE, which implies committing to act according to its code of conduct.
