MasterCraft launches new surf-focused X24 sport boat

American boat builder MasterCraft has launched its new X24 sport boat, the latest in its award-winning X-series.

The company, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year, has developed a new “surf-specific” hull design for the 7.3-metre (24-foot) vessel. When coupled with up to 1,949kg (4,300lbs) of ballast and MasterCraft’s Gen 2 Surf System, it creates a vast, perfectly sculpted wake that is the biggest available in the industry.

Michael Hardicker, managing director of MasterCraft Boats UK, commented, “MasterCraft is expanding its dominance in the market with its wake surfing technology and the new X24 brings a raft of new developments that improve the experience for both the driver and the rider. Our superyacht clients are going to love how easy it is to create a great on-the-water experience in the X24.”

Innovations aboard the X24 include the FastFill Ballast System – which can fill the boat’s ballast tanks in under three minutes – and the Switchback Ballast Tank, which once full can shift the weight from side to side to suit a surfer’s needs.

For superyacht customers, the new X24 features a luxurious cabin with space for 18 passengers, with the pickle-fork bow and U-shaped seating layout creating plenty of space for relaxation. An optional transom lounge and reserve seating offers further flexibility.

It also boasts plenty of surf-friendly storage for toys and gear – three cubic metres (106 cubic feet). It can also serve as a more traditional tender and perform limousine duties, and with self-described “infinite” colour options the X24 can be customized to perfectly match a superyacht’s aesthetic design.

In his statement, Hardicker added, “For the past 12 months we’ve been focusing on developing strategic partnerships with specialists in the superyacht industry, and that continues to be our focus.

“The sales gestation period has been longer than in the traditional sportsboat market. For example, we’ve recently been delivering bespoke tenders that were ordered over two years ago. It’s great to be included in the spec when new superyachts are commissioned and we’ve now become established as a trusted provider. We’re happy to build a long order book.”

MasterCraft are taking orders of the X24 from today. It brings the boat builder’s total number of specialist superyacht vessels up to 14.
