MB92 La Ciotat awarded exclusive use of 23,000sqm on upcoming 4000T. Shiplift

Refit and repair shipyard MB92 La Ciotat has announced it has been awarded a 35-year lease with La Ciotat Shipyards for exclusive use of more than 23,000 square metres on the 4,000-tonne platform to be delivered in 2022.

Works, which will begin on the new platform next year, include a state-of-the-art 4,000-tonne shiplift and spaces on the hard for yachts up to 105 metres. MB92 La Ciotat will also be contributing a large investment into the shiplift, representing a long-term commitment in what will become the Mediterranean’s largest and most sophisticated hub for superyacht refit and repair.

Ben Mennem, managing director of MB92 La Ciotat, said in a release, “We are delighted to be able to offer our large yacht customers an easily accessible new refit solution that complements the 2,000-tonne yacht lift and our 200-metre dry dock in La Ciotat and enhances the wide array of docking facilities we provide for large yachts.

“We are committed to developing the refit business and look forward to working closely with La Ciotat Shipyards to increase mega yacht workflow and creating direct and indirect jobs for the local community. ”

President and chief executive officer of the MB92 Group, Pepe García-Aubert, added, “Docking facilities for yachts over 80 metres are a rare commodity in the Mediterranean so we are very pleased to be able to offer additional options for this market segment.

“We are happy to have a long-term project in La Ciotat that allows us to further develop the superyacht refit and repair industry in the area.”

Compositeworks recently changed its name to MB92 La Ciotat following its acquisition by the MB92 Group in 2017.
