Mercury Marine wins ‘Most Eco-Friendly Marine Business Award’ for the second consecutive year

Marine propulsion specialists, Mercury Marine were recently announced as the winner of the ‘Most Eco-Friendly Marine Business Award’ for the second consecutive year by the Asian Marine & Boating Awards, receiving the award at the recent China (Shanghai) International Boat Show (CIBS) 2015.

The US-based marine business, known for its leadership in powerboat racing and race marine products, received recognition from the judges for its 75-115hp four-stroke outboard engine platform, which was noted to hold fuel efficiency and displacement with the lowest weight as its two key attributes.

The business previously won the award in 2014 for its lightweight 370hp Mercury Diesel TDI 4.2L engine.

Randy Caruana, vice president of Mercury Marine said, “Our innovative and industry leading 75-115hp platform has received very positive reviews in the marketplace and we are very pleased that the judged honoured us with this reward. We will continue to manufacture sustainable products and winning this award for a second consecutive year tells us that the marketplace is supporting our vision of sustainable and innovative marine propulsion technology.”

The Asian Marine & Boating Awards are backed and supported by the China (Shanghai) International Boat Show (CIBS), which is now in it’s 20th year. The show, which drew to a close in April 2015, and played host to 550 exhibitors across 57,000 square metres of exhibition space, hosts the awards as one of the initiatives to assist in the overall recreational and leisure boating scene in China and Asia.

Caruana continued, “Our 75-115hp platform as well as our SeaPro offering has been met with very positive feedback by our customers. We will continue to take a leadership role in establishing low-emission outboard, inboard and sterndrive marine propulsion systems.”

The Asian Marine & Boating Awards honours companies in the marine industry that have excelled in the water and with sustainability efforts. The panel of judges for the award is made up of marine specialists, lifestyle media and professional yacht fans.
