Modernisation of Masquerade of Sole complete

Pendennis has completed a major ‘modernisation’ refit of the 42m Feadship, Masquerade of Sole, which was built in 1983. The yacht was re-launched as A2 and has undertaken motor trials in Falmouth Bay, ending its spell at the shipyard.

The initial objective, when Masquerade of Sole arrived at Pendennis in spring 2011 was to remove the vessel’s interior and systems, simply leaving the base steel hull and aluminum superstructure.

The owner appointed New York-based Peter Marino Architect to design the owner and guest areas.  Naval architects, BMT Nigel Gee worked with the technical team at Pendennis to extend A2’s hull to 47m (a five-metre extension) across all three decks, and the superstructure was modified to incorporate a full beam master cabin. A2 also benefitted from a full paint job.

Other refits included, re-engineering of all systems, new deck equipment, a rebuild of the engine room, installation of modern bridge technology and state of the art AV equipment. The majority of the interior layout has been re-configured, manufactured and installed by the Pendennis team who worked closely with interior build experts.

A2 recently left the yard with an enhanced appearance and performance, with a cruising speed of 14 knots.
