Moll Vell Marina project shows progress

After many years of speculation, the harbour authority has issued a public offer for the modernisation of Moll Vell Marina. The project will include an upgrade of the marina’s facilities as well as the construction of a new building.

The project includes the renewal of all moorings and shore services (24 berths, 22 for vessels over 25 metres in length and two for superyachts over 40 metres) and the demolition and rebuild of the building, which will be very modern in style and feature a restaurant, bar/café, a rooftop terrace with city views, offices and commercial units.

The whole area towards Palma will become a public square with increased number of trees creating a green natural canopy - the marina area is separated by a glass fence to avoid creating a negative visual impact.

Investment will be in excess of 8 million euros and work will finish at the end of 2013 ready for a spring 2014 opening.

Palma’s new improved Moll Vell marina was filmed at the 30th Palma International Boat Show in May. The footage really shows how the marina has progressed since the last update, where the project was at foundation level, pumping out sea water a few months ago in March.

It also shows how the marina looks with plenty of superyachts in situ as it provided the setting for the Palma Superyacht Brokerage & Charter Show 2013 which ran alongside the Boat Show.
