Monaco Marine announces two new French Rivera superyacht shipyards

Monaco Marine has announced plans for its eighth French Riviera shipyard, due in 2018. The announcement comes shortly after plans for the opening of its seventh shipyard, La Seyne-Toulon, also due to open in 2018. La Seyne-Toulon will service yachts up to 55m, whereas the latest shipyard announcement, situated in Marseille, will operate refit and maintenance operations for superyachts up to 140m.

The Marseille superyachts facility will feature 320m docks, allowing yachts of more than 140m to be serviced in its two 250m2 workshops. The shipyard will cover a total of 87,000m2, manned by a team with ample experience regarding project management and large refits.

La Seyne-Toulon will offer spaces for 28 yachts ashore and 28 yachts afloat at the same time. Monaco Marine has planned for state of the art industrial tools to be installed for operation superyachts, with approximately €15 million being invested in the facility. The yard will have a 40,000 m2 ground area and a 14,645m2 water area, as well as a lifting tool with a 500-ton capacity for yachts up to 55m. A specially built slipway is also planned, as well as a covered shed for activities requiring humidity and climate control.

The two new openings, planned for 2018, aim to offer for more availability on large refit programs. Servicing more than 3,000 ships per year, the new yards serve as a solution to issues with refit availability expressed to Monaco Marine by its international clientele. Working closely with local authorities, Monaco Marine plans to make the French Riviera a centre for superyacht refit and maintenance programs, using its eight shipyards and global mobile task force to achieve this end.
