Mulder Design creates modern and elegant 115m superyacht concept

Unveiled during the latest edition of the Monaco Yacht Show (MYS) in September, Dutch design studio, Mulder Design has released a statement revealing the finer details of their latest 115m-superyacht concept.

According to the statement, Mulder Design received a brief to create a modern and elegant 115-metre displacement motor yacht. It was to have its own heli-platform on the forward deck with a dedicated helicopter garage below, and there was also to be a spacious beach club at the stern.

Frank Mulder, founder of Mulder Designs explained, “Our approach is not to focus solely on one part of the design, but to step back and take a helicopter view of the total picture.

“Leveraging on our decades of experience, we have moved beyond the thought that one part of a superyacht concept should be excellent, while the rest is part of that. Instead, we go through every aspect of the entire process over and over again until we are sure that the resulting design is excellent in every way.”

Moving to undertake larger projects in recent years, Mulder Design has created a concept with a forward-leaning profile that is modern, elegant and striking from every angle. It includes the requested heli-pad forward, as well as a large beach club that measures 18m by 8m, flooded by natural light from the skylight at the bottom of the swimming pool above, adding to the feeling of space.

As a company that is able to offer both yacht design and naval architecture services in-house, the studio undertook the entire project, creating the lines, shape and core layout of the vessel, before moving to finalise her special features of this hull: This included work towards weight saving, efficiency and performance optimisation.

Frank Mulder continued, “There is a clear desire among yacht owners for more energy-efficient yachts. In our latest designs we have worked very hard on ensuring that the twin pillars of speed and comfort could be aligned with an impressive degree of efficiency when cruising long distances. The evolution of our high-speed cruising hull design can be combined with hybrid technology to optimise performance in every way.”
