MYBA has announced its annual competition for superyacht chefs, due to take place during this year’s MYBA Charter Show, at OneOcean Port Vell, Barcelona.
Taking place from Monday 24th April – Wednesday 26th April, the competition is sponsored by Sagittarius Spain and SuperYachtWorld. Chefs will be required to prepare a three course meal: Seafood incorporating saffron, a fish dish with rice, and a dessert made without sugar.
Superyacht stewards and stewardesses can also take part in a ‘tablescaping’ competition with the theme ‘Spring in Barcelona’.
Judges of the competition include Antonio Mellino, a two Michelin starred chef and supporter of MYBA, and Micail Swindells, one of the 2016 winners. The three other judges all come from restaurants by the renowned Adrià brothers, who own five Michelin-starred restaurants in Barcelona.
MYBA also revealed a number of the chefs taking part in the three day competition: “Fran Agudo from the Michelin-starred restaurant "Tickets"; Paco Méndez from Michelin-starred restaurant "Hoja Santa"; and Rafael Zafra from the "Cirque du Soleil" and Adrià brothers´ first joint project, the restaurant "Heart", in Ibiza.”
Chef Albert Adrià said, “The MYBA Charter Show is a great opportunity for us to discover the cuisine created on board superyachts and to have an insight into the world of yachting. We usually receive guests from superyachts in our restaurants in Barcelona and Ibiza but this time we will be the guests. We are very excited to be part of the show.”
You can follow the competition on the MYBA Facebook and Instagram pages for exclusive images, or visit MYBA for more information.
