Nauta Yachts announces new 70m custom superyacht Moonflower

Italian boatbuilders Nauta Yachts has revealed Moonflower, a forward-thinking custom superyacht scheduled for delivery in 2021/2022. Spanning 70 metres (230 feet), the vessel will offer five decks and a patent-pending-designed beach club – among myriad other features.

Milan-based Nauta has confirmed that the motor yacht, developed for an experienced owner, will begin construction before the end of the year. The naval architecture and engineering is at an “advanced stage” according to the yard, and tank testing is due to begin in the coming weeks following the signing of the design contracts at last year’s Monaco Yacht Show.

Upon completion, Moonflower will boast a number of innovative features. In addition to the refreshingly designed beach club, the exterior styling benefits from clean, smooth lines. The interior volume – 1,450GT – allows lots of space for an interior gym, wellness centre and spa, as well as a private owner’s saloon.

The aforementioned beach club is a key feature of Moonflower, offering huge space thanks to a soon-to-be-patented system allowing for multiple fold-down platforms. Indoor and outdoor areas of the beach club are interconnected, providing a free-flowing atmosphere to this spacious area for guests and owners seeking a closer relationship with the water. In total, with all platforms folded out, the aft deck spans 117 square metres and offers 270-degree panoramic views.

Other features aboard Moonflower include a seawater swimming pool, which has a hydraulic mechanism to raise the teak bottom that shuts flush with the deck when not in use, as well as a hammam, sauna and shower in the wellness centre and spa. A full-beam lounge, accessed through a glazed transom door and side terraces, includes a fire pit.

The uppermost deck is reserved for the owner’s suite, with direct helipad access and a private foredeck complete with ‘infinity nest’ forward in the bow. Full-height glazing will offer impressive views from the 87-square-metre owner’s suite, with a grand skylight in the deckhead adding yet more natural light. Each deck is connected by a superyacht elevator wrapped by a spiral staircase.

Talking about the build Mario Pedol, co-founder of Nauta Yachts, said, “Innovative design, lots of open-air space, close contact with the water, light-filled and airy interiors, flexible layout and furniture solutions...these were the ‘must-have’ features requested by the owner that drove the exterior styling, general arrangement and interior design.”

Thanks to twin driveshaft-mounted electric motors (1500 kW at 1800rpm), Moonflower will be able to hit a top speed of 16 knots and, at a cruising speed of 14 knots, enjoy a transatlantic range in excess of 6,000 nautical miles. There will also be five diesel generators for reserve or alternate power.
