Navantia Cartagena’s yacht repair report

Offered By Navantia Yachts

Navantia Repairs in Cartagena had a slow start at the beginning of 2012, at least in the yacht repair market, although activity started to pick up after the summer holiday season and the company is really happy with business at present.

In the first quarter of 2012 the company had the presence of the 80m M/Y Stargate to carry out paint work on the bottom of its hull as well as overhauling valves and polishing propellers.

At the beginning of the second quarter Navantia had another 80m motor yacht in its installations, known by the name of Amevi. She was lifted on the Syncrolift and docked to undergo service on its stabilisers.

After the summer holidays activity rose in the yacht repair business. The impressive 51m sailing yacht Kokomo entered the graving dock to work on the rudder, as well as the keel and carry out the usual dry dock maintenance works.

The 78m M/Y Eminence also docked at Navantia to undergo service on its stabilisers, whilst at the shipyard, other maintenance work on its valves and hull were carried out, the yacht returned to sea at the end of September.

The team at Navantia went on to complete service work on RM Elegant’s stabilisers, the 72m motor yacht also had an overhaul of the auxiliary engines.

Among the yachts the yard currently has in the installations is the 75m motor yacht Vibrant Curiosity, which came out of the water to service the stabilisers.

The elegant 75m Leander, a habitual customer in the installations, came out of the water to undergo her 20-year refit. Among the works were shafts, rudder, stabilisers, electrical work as well as painting of the superstructure and hull.

White Cloud a 67m motor yacht docked in the shipyard to service stabilisers and carry out a complete refit on the waste plant as well as the drydock works.

The yard has recently welcomed and started working on the historical yacht Nahlin commissioned in 1929.  The work includes shafts, valves and painting of the hull bottom.

The largest privately owned sail catamaran, Hemisphere is also currently dry docked in the yard undergoing a series of maintenance jobs including paint, replacement of the stern tube seal, etc…

Motoryacht Black Pearl has been dry docked to replace the stern tube seals as well as washing and painting the hull bottom.

The yard is expecting to receive another habitual client shortly, the spectacular motor yacht A and is pleased with the current flow of business.
