In the realm of maritime luxury, the quest to offer yacht charter guests the perfect night's sleep has become an art form, one which luxury bed and linen supplier, CC Design, has fully committed to.
Renowned yacht designer and Goliath Series founder Steve Kozloff has unveiled Alexis, a 117-metre (384-foot) superyacht concept featuring polar-class expedition capabilities, nine luxurious decks and a raft of innovative features.
Alexis would be an ideal vessel for owners and charter guests planning to visit northern latitudes thanks to the full-displacement yacht’s ice-class steel hull and aluminium superstructure. Heated handrails and specially constructed doors have also been added to reduce ice build-up on exterior surfaces.
Engines aboard Alexis would be four 16-cylinder Cummins QSK60-M diesel-electric powerplants – totalling a powerful 8,000hp. Motors will be connected to four azipods. It’s expected that the superyacht would reach a top speed of 14.2 knots, with a cruising speed of 10 knots; at that speed she boasts a global range of 22,000 nautical miles - a round-the-world yacht route is defined as one stretching at least 21,600 nautical miles. Unsurprisingly, Alexis is expected to boast a leviathan fuel capacity of 432,000 gallons.
As well as serious under-hood specifications, Alexis will feature 3,000 square feet of hangar space – enough for up to four small helicopters (or three medium ones) – and landing permits for operations in inclement conditions. Research equipment can also be moved easily thanks to a pair of large cranes. The tender garage is also impressively sized, with space for two submarines, several tenders and a multitude of water toys.
But it’s not all work and function aboard Alexis, with plenty of decadent details to enjoy. A master suite aft benefits from a private pool with retractable cover (the second, guest pool will have similar roofing). In total the superyacht will be able to accommodate up to 20 guests on extended treks thanks to a trio of master suites and seven twin guest staterooms.
For safety, she also includes a quartet of free-fall lifeboats.
