New changes to yacht brokerage diploma from Maritime Training Academy

The Maritime Training Academy has announced some exciting new changes to their formerly named Diploma in Boat Retail and Brokerage. Originally entering the market in 2009, as the first course of its kind to offer distance learning training to boat brokerage professionals, the team at MTA have now re-developed the course to meet the growing needs of the industry. These new changes will provide students with two additional modules, focusing on sales and charter, whilst now also covering the brokerage for yachts of all sizes. As a result, the course will now be re-launched and re-branded as the Diploma in Yacht Brokerage, in time for this upcoming October intake.

Gemma Humphreys of the Maritime Training Academy commented, “We’re very pleased here at MTA to introduce these exciting new developments, to an already excellent course. As the yachting industry continues to grow, it’s important that we also evolve with it, to ensure that we continue to fulfill the needs of our students. The changes which we’ve implemented will provide students with a more thorough understanding of all essential elements of yacht brokerage and will be applicable to any yacht charter or sales broker working within this vibrant industry”.

In keeping with previous course dates, the Diploma in Yacht Brokerage will commence 1st October 2014 but will now comprise of 12 modules, rather than 10. Essential subjects include business management, yacht sales, insurance, valuation, yacht charter, registration, title rules and regulations. In line with MTA’s other training, the course will be delivered via distance learning online. All students are required to successfully complete and pass the 12 module assignments. Diploma students are also required to sit a final examination in either October 2015 or April 2016. There is also the opportunity to attend two tutorial seminars, one mid-way through the course and one immediately before the examination. Tutors and support staff are available to offer student guidance whenever required.
