New COO appointed at Trinity Yachts

Trinity Yachts, a Gulf Coast based shipyard, has recently announced the appointment of their new chief operating officer, William S. Smith III (Billy).

Billy previously served as vice president of sales and marketing at Trinity Yachts and Gulf Coast Shipyard Group (GCSG), however, was made redundant upon the purchase of the companies by Harvey Gulf at the end of June 2015.

Shane Guidtry, president and CEO of Harvey Gulf International Marine said, “One of the most respected professionals in the superyacht industry, Billy brings an institutional knowledge of Trinity and a strong relationship with Harvey Gulf, as well as deep connections with national and international clients.

“Billy is a valuable asset to Trinity Yachts, and we are confident that he will take Trinity Yachts to the next level.”

Billy commented, “With the purchase of Trinity Yachts and Gulf Coast Shipyard Group, Harvey Gulf is well positioned to grow, and I look forward to bringing my skills, interests and relationships to help the company further define and strengthen its luxury yacht division.

“Working with Harvey Gulf allows me to offer the most environmentally-friendly vessels in the industry, especially the transfer of technologies from the commercial fleet, such as the most recent delivery of the country’s first dual-fuelled LNG-powered offshore supply vessel to a superyacht client.”

Well known within the industry, Billy is a founding member and current board member of the Superyacht Builders Association and a member and former vice chairman of the United States Superyacht Association. As well as this, he is also a founding board member of the Gulf Coast Conservation Association of Louisiana.
