Comet, a leading brand of marine distress signals, launched a streamlined Orange Smoke Signal at METS, the world’s largest marine leisure sector trade show of its kind. The taller, thinner Orange Smoke Signal is being manufactured in-house by Drew Marine Signal and Safety.
The Orange Smoke Signal is a compact, flat top, day time distress signal that produces dense orange smoke for at least three minutes and is used to mark positions during marine rescue operations and indicate wind direction.
Keith Bradford, product manager at Drew Marine Signal and Safety said, “The Orange Smoke Signal improvement is part of our continuous development programme for our half-a-dozen SOLAS products.”
The Orange Smoke Signal is 114mm (4.5inches) and 82mm (3.2inches) tall and can be stored in a water-tight locker at ambient temperature or the specially designed polybottle. Commercial life rafts and lifeboats have to fit two orange smokes to comply with SOLAS regulations.
The Comet brand is manufactured by Drew Marine Signal and Safety, a leading supplier of SOLAS, MED & USCG-approved marine distress signals to commercial and leisure marine markets.
Comet products have been helping to save lives for more than 50 years and are specified by the world’s navies, merchant fleets, fishing vessels, rescue services, airlines and leisure craft. They are available through a global network of more than 200 distributors.
Drew Marine Signal and Safety was among 1,300 exhibitors, including Yachting Pages from 39 countries.
