‘P2’ sistership 39m performance sloop due for 2015 launch

The P2, a 39m performance sloop, is the latest collaboration by Philippe Briand and the Perini Navi Group, and is on schedule for launch in July 2015.

The new vessel has been developed as a sistership to the highly successful 38m P2 launched in 2008, which placed consistently well at superyacht regattas around the globe with over 10 podium finishes to date. Subsequently, the new owner has ordered his 39m P2 on the back of this resounding success. 

Briand has modified the characteristics of the original yacht design in order to better adapt the vessel to a full performance and cruising programme.   

There is now a furling boom and the water ballast has been neutralised in order to give more usable space inside the boat. The aesthetic roof design accentuates the yacht’s dynamic character.

The two sisterships are due to meet at The Perini Navi Cup at Porto Cervo in September 2015. Briand said of the new vessel, “The 39m is a very responsive swift and agile yacht. It has an appealing attractive design and size for owners looking predominantly for performance.

“It is fully optimised and highly competitive in superyacht regattas as well as offering very comfortable cruising features.” Briand continued, “Once again my team and I are delighted to partner with The Perini Navi Group to further developed this successful design.”

In November Perini announced the design of another 39m performance sloop - a Briand hull with a Perini superstructure and an open transom - Project C.2196.
