Palmawatch has announced the addition of an in-house shipwright’s department to its refit and repair facility inside the STP Shipyard in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in order to keep up with growing demand for traditional refit services.
Following a successful recruitment drive last summer, Palmawatch confirmed the appointment of British-born Paul Muston, a qualified boat-builder and shipwright by trade for over 25 years, and has since seen a growing demand for his artisan services.
Pierre said, “Owners of the most expensive and luxurious superyachts in the world are usually individuals who recognise the value of hand-crafted workmanship performed by an artisan, and for this reason, an in-house shipwright’s department is an essential service to be able to call upon for a refit and repair specialist like Palmawatch.”
According to the shipyard, Paul’s appointment has resulted in an increase in demand for carpentry and joinery services.
Pierre continued, “Right now, Paul is busy laying teak decking and refurbishing a swim platform on a 40m Jongert, and his schedule looks full for the coming two months. We are therefore seeking another skilled shipwright to meet the increased demand for such work, as we have already gained a solid reputation for it with our clients.”
