Pendennis reveals significant investment in Vilanova Grand Marina

Mediterranean refit marina Vilanova Grand Marina in Barcelona has received a “major” multi-million pound investment from British shipyard Pendennis. As part of the investment, the yard has unveiled plans to build a new refit facility at the marina.

Pendennis hopes to complete the first phase of the new facility by the start of the winter season in 2019.

Mike Carr, managing director at the Cornish boatbuilder, said, “Besides already being a first-class marina close to Barcelona, we plan to build a refit facility alongside from where we will be able to enhance our offering to the superyacht fleet in the Mediterranean region.”

Alongside its Falmouth base, which is equipped to undertake substantial superyacht restoration, Pendennis also has a refit office at Palma-based STP Shipyard.

Carr noted that the new facility will “complement our already successful international business operation in Palma, as well as our main base in Falmouth”.

Developed solely for superyachts, Vilanova Grand Marina currently has 49 superyacht berths for vessels between 20 and 130 metres (66 and 427 feet) with a maximum draught of 6.5 metres.
