Pershing reveals design for its largest ever yacht

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, yacht builder Pershing has unveiled the design for its largest ever yacht, the Pershing 140.

First shown at the 2015 Monaco Yacht Show as one of 27 new Ferretti Group models, the Pershing 140 is described as the brand’s flagship yacht. Measuring just over 43m, she is the first Pershing yacht to be built entirely of aluminium.

The 140 is also the first to be built at Ferretti Group’s Ancona boatyard, which specialises in the construction of steel and aluminium super and megayachts over 40m. According to the brand, it is stepping into a new design and construction era, combining its traditional strong drive towards innovation with the heritage of 30 years spent in the forefront.

Architect Fulvio De Simiono, who designed the 140 and all other Pershing models since 1985, called the 140 “highly innovative”. He said, “We decided to make the least possible invasive changes, preserving those iconic design elements that make every single Pershing yacht truly unmistakeable at first sight.”

Pershing describes the 140 as having a sporty personality, characterised by an aluminium hull. However, designers ensure there is maximum comfort for the owner on board, and included several design elements to preserve the family feeling that is present in the brand’s most recent models. The owner is then able to design the interior to their own requirements, in collaboration with Ferretti Group’s designers and architects.

The 140 is available in three possible engine configurations for the owner to choose from: The first two include MTU 4000 M93L engines, either 12V or 16V, with hydro-jet propulsion offering a speed of up to 24 knots for the former, and 33 knots for the latter. The third option offers installation of four MTU M94 2600 HP engines, offering a speed of up to 38 knots.
