Peters & May announces new transport options for ARC participants

Southampton-based global yacht transporter, Peters & May, has announced further transport options for participants competing in Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). Peters & May will now be giving rally participants the option to load in Antigua as well as St Thomas.

Peters & May has been a supporter of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers for 11 consecutive years, offering participants a wide range of shipping options from the Caribbean as an alternative way to return to Europe. Historically, all shipping vessels have been brought into the port of St Thomas in the United States Virgin Islands. This year saw over 100 yachts depart Antigua over four shipping vessels; a fair proportion of which were ARC participants.

However, there has been increasing demand for an alternative as Steven Stanbury, Caribbean trade manager from Peters & May, explained, “Responding to demand from a number of clients, we loaded our first vessel in Antigua last April. Due to the success and continued demand, we are now pleased to be able to extend this option going forward. Being the sailing hub of the Caribbean, I hope this will not only benefit our clients, but also many of the local commercial enterprises.”

Andrew Bishop from Atlantic Rally for Cruisers said, “Peters & May has supported World Cruising Club participants for over a decade, providing shipping options for our participants. This proactive development is most welcome and we look forward to working alongside them to further expand ports and route options globally.”

The ARC attracts over 200 yachts and over 1,200 people every year, to sail 2,700 nautical miles across the Atlantic, from Gran Canaria to Saint Lucia.
