Philippe Briand unveils largest sailing superyacht concept to date

Philippe Briand – a London-based superyacht designer – has revealed a new 90-metre (295-foot) concept named SY 300, his largest model to date.

With the ketch weighing an astonishing 1,500 tonne, this large vessel will have a 14-metre beam and a sail area measuring a total of 10,160 square metres.

SY 300 shares similar design aspects to Briand’s landmark yachts, the 67-metre (220-foot) Vertigo and 73-metre (240-foot) Sybaris, with two masts and rigging built from carbon fibre.

Key features include three decks, an inverted bow and a 112-metre flybridge decorated with a dining table large enough to seat 16 guests, as well as an additional seating area with two L-shaped sofas and low tables.

Currently, the three decks have been defined as “uncluttered”, but the owner will be given the option of a swimming pool and sun pads or sun loungers.

Moving inside, the interior layout is adapted to the owner’s tastes. Initial plans include enough accommodation to house up to 14 guests.

The full-beam owner’s suite can be found on the main deck, with his and hers bathrooms, an office and private terrace. A full-beam saloon is also on the main deck, leading forward to a dining room on the port side and a bonus room on the starboard side.

The remaining guest accommodation sits on the lower deck, along with the crew accommodation for up to 17 staff. A full-beam gym also sits on the lower deck, leading to an aft-deck pool, spa, Jacuzzi and massage room.

In prime conditions, she is estimated to reach a top speed of 20 knots.
