Pinmar appoints new executive director to drive growth in USA

Superyacht paint specialist Pinmar has announced the appointment of Derik Wagner to spearhead its growth plans in the USA.

Industry veteran Wagner joins as executive director, responsible for leading the US management team and driving the strategic development of the business in North America and the Caribbean.

Wagner brings more than 20 years of global sales, business development and management experience, most recognised in the satellite and superyacht industries for his previous role as managing director of MTN’s Yacht Service business where he established the company as the preferred supplier of global managed VSAT services for the superyacht industry.

Well connected in the industry, Wagner was president of the International Superyacht Society (ISS) from 2015 to 2017, has served multiple board terms and is a founding member of the US Superyacht Association (USSA), as well as a former anchor member of the Marine Industries Association of South Florida (MIASF).

In a release, Wagner stated, “I am delighted to be joining Pinmar and eager to start implementing the ambitious development strategy for the USA. Pinmar is a very well-respected brand with a great heritage – I’m excited to join one of the leading groups in the superyacht service sector and I very much look forward to working with the senior management team.”

Wagner will be responsible for Pinmar’s business operations in the USA, taking over from Peter Brown. Brown will remain as managing director of Pinmar USA Inc. during the handover process and thereafter will continue to oversee the USA business, ensuring greater synergy between US and European operations. Current general manager Phil Burgess will take on a new role as director of sales and business development.

Operating out of Pinmar’s new USA headquarters in Rybovich West Palm Beach, Wagner will be tasked with expanding the company’s services with its existing partners and across the North America superyacht market.

He is a very well-known and respected member of the superyacht industry who undoubtedly has both the skills and experience to lead the next phase of the company’s development in the USA.”
