Port of Antibes trials new waste collection device

Port Vauban in Antibes, France has been renting a robot which collects waste in the water.

Jellyfishbot in Port Vauban Antibes

Jellyfishbot, a remote-controlled ‘jellyfish robot’ can collect up to 50 litres of waste per haul into its nets, including cans, cigarette butts and plastic bottles. Small and compact, Jellyfishbot has an advantage over other stationary robots present in the port thanks to its front camera, which allows for easy remote controlling.

If the experiment turns out to be successful by the end of summer 2022, the port will acquire the Jellyfishbot on a sustainable, and more permanent, basis.
