Yachting Pages has partnered with the French Office for Biodiversity to create a survey for captains in order to better understand their thoughts on the new French anchoring regulations around Posidonia seagrass implemented in summer 2021.
The survey gives captains the opportunity to share their feedback about the regulations and voice any criticism and concerns about how this affects their crew and guests’ experience on board.
The survey comes after the French government banned superyachts from anchoring in certain areas of French waters where Posidonia seagrass is present.
Posidonia seagrass is one of the oldest living beings on earth housing numerous species of fish and providing an important source of oxygen to underwater ecosystems. When a deadweight mooring or anchor is dropped, the seagrass meadows are heavily damaged and, once destroyed, Posidonia cannot be restored.
Captains can give their feedback on the anchoring regulations by completing the survey.
