Italian based shipyard Rosetti Superyachts has revealed its 65-metre (231-foot) ice-classed explorer yacht concept named Project Orca.
Inspired by the killer whale, Project Orca features a ‘robust’ profile coupled with a ‘bold superstructure styling’ and a radar mast intended to resemble a dorsal fin.
Fulvio Dodich, chief executive of Rosetti Superyachts, said, “The organic design traits mimic the orca, the largest and most powerful member of the dolphin family. Instantly recognisable by their distinctive black-and-white colouring, these sea mammals roam the world’s oceans from Arctic and Antarctic to the tropics, which is exactly what our explorer yacht is designed to do.”
The exterior of the design was penned by Meccano Engineering and combines curved and straight lines with Rosetti’s supply vessel characteristics. While a 12-metre beam and interior volume of 1300GT provide stability and comfort at sea.
Project Orca can accommodate up to 12 guests across six cabins, comprising an owner’s suite, a full beam VIP on the main deck and two VIPs and two cabins below. The dedicated owner’s deck offers his and hers en suite bathrooms, a walk-in wardrobe, gym and large private terrace with views of the open aft deck. Crew accommodation meanwhile is for a staff of 12.
The open main deck aft provides storage for toys and tenders with a touch-and-go helipad on the stern. The deck has room for two tenders, Jet Skis or quad bikes, and a submarine, with two independent cranes to port and starboard for easy launching. Further storage can be found below with a room for another two tenders and more toys for exploring both land and sea.
Power will come from twin CAT 3512 engines, offering a range of 5000 nautical miles when cruising 11 knots. Rosetti estimates a 36-month construction time for the first Project Orca explorer.
