Rossinavi launches Project Vector and names her Utopia IV

Italian yard Rossinavi has launched its 63-metre (207-foot) fast-displacement yacht Project Vector, naming her Utopia IV.

With exterior design by Team for Design Enrico Gobbi and naval architecture by Arrabito Naval Architects, Utopia’s lines strike a balance between elegance and attitude, with Rossinavi calling her “the perfect compromise between a tri-deck motor yacht and a pure speed boat”.

Commissioned by an American client in November 2014, Utopia’s key features include a 70-square-metre beach club in the transom, three spa pools and a touch-and-go helipad.

Gobbi’s studio was also charged with the design of her interior spaces, which, totalling a volume of 930GT, are sleek and wide. Features include rich wood panelling to divide the main-deck saloon from the dining area.

On-board accommodation is in place for up to 12 guests across six cabins, with a forward-facing owner’s suite with six-metre balcony, grand bathroom with double shower and Jacuzzi bath, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering 180-degree panoramic views out. Crew accommodation houses a staff of 13 people.

Utopia IV is powered by four 2,600hp MTU M96L Rolls Royce engines and four Kamewa waterjets, giving her a top speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 15 knots. This translates to a transatlantic cruising range of 3,300 nautical miles. She can easily reach a cruising speed of 18 knots using only 35% of her propulsion power.

Federico Rossi, COO of Rossinavi said, “We wanted it [Utopia IV] to feel like a speedboat, with a minimum draft, efficient in its range of its navigation, with an intelligent propulsion and completely tailor-made.

“At the beginning of the design process, we had to consider the relationship between the engine horsepower necessary to achieve certain speeds, and its weight… The overall balance is a particular feature of this boat; an interesting idea which makes Vector unique.”

Comprised of an aluminium hull she is expected for delivery in summer 2018. Other projects currently under development at the yard include 49m Project FR036 which is also due for completion before the end of the year.
