Yacht painting and coating specialist Safinah Group has announced that its yacht team has expanded with the recruitment of Stuart Downie.

Downie joins as a consultant, following eight years at Lloyd’s Register as lead coating specialist, managing regulatory, Class compliance and product approvals for coating used in the marine market.

Prior to that, Downie spent 16 years working for AkzoNobel across various paint and coating markets, in different roles and departments, finishing in Yacht Global Technical Services as the company’s application specialist. He was responsible for solving problems in the field, developing yacht-specific spray equipment and managing new product field trials.

“Our yacht team is made up of some exceptional people with a wide range of knowledge and expertise, I am looking forward to learning and adding to the group and the renowned Safinah Group reputation,” Downie said.
