Sanlorenzo reveals new SL102 semi-planing motor yacht

Sanlorenzo announced the latest addition to its semi-planing line during a press conference at the Italian yard’s Elite Days client weekend on 7th May.

The new 31.1-metre (102-foot) semi-planing yacht with 7.1-metre beam is named SL102 and is set to make its public debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival.

She will be Sanlorenzo’s first asymmetrical yacht, featuring a unique single side deck on the starboard side. The layout allows the main deck interior to expand outboard to the hull and superstructure limits.

The project’s layout comes from car designer Chris Bangle, and was then completed by Sanlorenzo’s team of designers, as well as Bernardo and Martina Zuccon from Zuccon International Project.

When presented with some of the challenges of boat operations in this size range, the design team opted for a single deck. This will allow for a protected passage for the crew whilst handling mooring operations.

The wideboy layout positions the master cabin forward on the deck, with a starboard side door accessing the single side deck. Owners have the option to deploy a gate to prevent passage at certain times, allowing them to enjoy the entire forward area of the yacht, which includes an outdoor lounge, in privacy.

Meanwhile, the guest accommodation lines up with the bulkhead of the boat like many wideboy designs.

A couple of different layouts are available but the basis is a spacious owner’s suite on the main deck and four generous guest cabins below. The crew quarters is located on the lower deck and includes a mess and two twin bunk cabins.

Other features on board include a full-height main saloon window and a folding balcony on the starboard side.

The SL102 will be a typical semi-planing hull, with an expected top speed of around 28-29 knots, depending on the selection of engines (twin 16V MTU M86 or the upgrade M96). Cruising speed will be around 25-26 knots, and the yacht will be able to carry 12,000 litres of fuel and 2,000 litres of water.
