Scyllias, the collaborative tender from Dankers Creative Studio and Studio Delta Naval Architects, has been announced as the winner of the highly-acclaimed iF Design Award for ‘Professional Concept Mobility’.
Scyllias is a hybrid-powered catamaran with submersible pod, designed to be used as a tender aboard superyachts of over 100m LOA. She is the result of a thesis graduation project between Industrial Design Engineering student, Pieter Dankers and the Studio Delta design bureau.
According to a recent statement from Studio Delta, Scyllias is a unique concept that combines the possibility of exploring the underwater world with the functionality of a fast tender; "Offering much more than other recreational submarines, she allows passengers to explore more area with the superyacht remaining stationary".
Her dimensions will match the regular tender bays on large superyachts over and above 100m LOA.
Among the most respected of international design awards, the 2016 iF Design Award will be presented to the design duo at an award ceremony at BWM Welt in Munich, Germany on Friday 26th February.
