Second Amels Limited Edition 242 yacht begins sea trials

The second Amels Limited Edition 242 yacht, currently known as Project 7402, has begun its sea trials off the coast of the Netherlands. At 74m, this Amels superyacht has a steel and aluminium hull construction and is built to Lloyds Class standards.

Following the launch of the first 242 superyacht Plvs Vltra in 2016, this latest hull in the line was sold in September 2015 by Fraser, who is also managing the project.

Speaking of the project last year, Rob Luijendijk, managing director at Amels said, “This yacht will have a very different character to the first Amels 242, this is precisely why our Limited Editions concept has worked so well.

“The customisation, the very high level of quality and the proven platform, combined with faster delivery, creates a very attractive proposition.”

Amels’ semi-custom Limited Editions are built speculatively, enabling the yard to achieve quicker delivery times.

The exterior of the yacht has been designed by Tim Heywood, with Winch Design handling the interior. Large exterior aft decks feature on the yacht, with a swimming pool and helipad also present.

The layout of the owner's suite was of particular importance to the owner, along with the spa area. Five guest cabins will provide further accommodation for up to 12 guests.

Scheduled for completion before this year’s summer season, Project 7402 will have a fuel capacity of 155,000 litres, and a maximum cruising range of 5,000nm at 12.5 knots.
