Second Darwin Class 102 to launch next month

Cantiere delle Marche has announced that the second hull in its Darwin Class 102’ series of explorer yachts will be launched early next month.

The second 102, named Babbo, will offer a series of interesting customisations in both function and design, including a fully equipped gym and fitness area. She is the sistership to Acala, which was presented to the industry at the last edition of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS).

Babbo's garage and aft deck will be customised in order to hold numerous tenders and water toys and a complete diving centre, with a dedicated garage space of 25sqm. Her aft platform and upper deck will also store tenders of 5m and 6.30m respectively.

At 30.48m LOA, further customisations include her interior height allowance, which has been increased to 2.18m so that the owner will not suffer any of the classic problems that tall people typically experience aboard a yacht of her size. Consequently, her doors and windows will also be re-proportioned.

Vasco Buonpensiere and Ennio Cecchini, co-founders of CDM said, “The success of our Darwin Class 102 is the proof of how a product developed by identifying a very specific demand can give great commercial satisfaction even in difficult times like these.

“There are now four Darwin Class 102’s sold, and this shows that CDM [is] a shipyard that listens and translates very well the real needs of yachtsmen in every corner of the world.”

Babbo will be officially presented to the industry at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2016.
