Sochi Grand Marina has now opened its reception desk which is also a one-stop-shop for all crews and boat owners. The marina has announced that a new management team is to take from October 2014 in order to further improve the level of services provided.
In October 2013, Sochi Grand Marina welcomed its first guests. An example of Olympic legacy, the marina was built for the 2014 Winter Olympics to welcome guests of the Games in Sochi, Russia. This project took five years and began in 2009.
Before this time Sochi seaport was able to accommodate a maximum of 50 yachts and was always full. The demand on Russia’s black sea coast was much higher than the offering. In 2009, soon after the city was awarded the right to host 2014 Winter Olympics, a project of city’s port renovation was presented, which included transforming the old port into a 200-berth marina.
The creation of Sochi Grand Marina involved some of the world’s best marine engineers and architects from Aedas, IGY Marinas (later Mourjan Marinas IGY) and Elkus Manfredi Architects. Construction made use of the expertise and products of Marinetek Finland OY and SF Marina Systems Sweden.
As of today, Sochi Grand Marina is a system of floating concrete pontoons and fixed piers capable of accommodating up to 250 yachts, up to 50m long (four berths). There is also one berth for a yacht up to 150m.
