Leading UK shipyard Solent Refit, has recently announced a major milestone – having now welcomed over 50 refit clients to their facility, located in Southampton, UK.
According to Solent Refit, common ground for all these successfully completed projects is the economic benefit of working through a planned, cost effective and well supervised refit in the UK, in a facility with a good work ethic and high skill base. Superyachts can further benefit from the normal tax relief expected by correctly registered and commercial vessels.
Allan Foot, a director at Solent Refit commented, “At Solent Refit we are offering an extremely cost effective solution to owners and captains, without compromise to the quality of work. Currently, we are working at capacity with many of our projects due for launch throughout this spring – we believe it is vital to work closely with each client to ensure that their deadlines and expectations in terms of cost and timescale are met.”
At this stage in early 2014, all refit projects are progressing well despite the weather that the UK has experienced recently, due to the fact that the yachts are all safely tucked up under cover in the 10,000 square metre refit halls.
Projects currently underway at the yard show a certain diversity of skills available at Solent Refit. One refit currently requires more traditional joinery and shipwright skills with the replacement of the 3” thick oak planking and caulking on a square rigged tall ship, while others are in for a diversity of other works such as replating, repainting, engineering, an interior refit, with one or two for commissioning later this spring.
Solent Refit has also announced that they will be attending both the Antibes Yacht Show and Monaco Yacht Show this year.
