Sportfisher superyacht order signed by Yachting Developments

New Zealand shipyard, Yachting Developments, has recently announced the signing of a new order for a 38.7m sportfisher superyacht. Known as Hull 1015, this marks the second superyacht project signed by the shipyard in 12 months, and follows on from the order of a 33.5m sloop Hull 1012 in September 2014.

With the contract signed earlier this month, work on the Hull 1015 will commence immediately with delivery set for 2017. The vessels naval architecture is designed by Michael Peters Yacht Design, her exterior by Yacht Studio Ltd and interior styling by the New Zealand-based Below Decks Marine Interiors.

Constructed entirely from carbon, the yacht is reportedly being built for an experienced international sport fisherman, although their name is yet to be confirmed.

Ian Cook, managing director from Yachting Developments said, “It is exciting to have two such different new projects underway, which each showcasing the wide skillset we have here at the yard.

“We are, of course, very pleased that the owner of Hull 1015 has chosen to work with a New Zealand shipyard, recognising that it is a country that builds world class yachts.”

Motor Yacht Build are set to take on project management of Hull 1015, which will commence construction alongside the 33.5m Hull 1012, which is now over 50% complete in the Yachting Developments’ new shipyard facility.
