Sports marinas of Dominican Republic announce re-opening of operations

Following the recommendations made by the High Level Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus in the Dominican Republic, and with the opening of the borders, the main Dominican sports marinas have opened their moorings to national and foreign nautical tourism.

Jean Pereyra, Ocean World Marina managing director, said,  “With the re-opening of tourism from 1st July, Ocean World Marina is ready to restart its nautical operations.

“We are following the recommendations made by the High Level Commission for the Prevention and Control of Coronavirus in the Dominican Republic with well-established protocols to minimise the risk of contagion.”

Nautical tourism is one of the sectors with the greatest potential for national development, from fishing, the majority of which are catch and release, recreational navigation and the transit of boats from one destination to another in the Caribbean. Nautical activities have become the best complement of activities offered to the millions of tourists who visit the country every year.

Unlike other nautical destinations in the region, the Dominican Republic kept all nautical operations closed, which is why the re-opening of its operations represents a challenge for such facilities, due to the seasonality of this type of tourism that was affected by the pandemic.
