Steve Jobs’ Venus returns to Feadship for refit

One of the world’s most famous superyachts, 78.2m Venus, has arrived at Feadship’s Harlingen facility to begin a new refit project.

The arrival marks the first time since her 2012 launch that the Philippe Starck-styled yacht has returned to the Dutch yard, with Venus' 2015 refit having taken place at Monaco Marine in La Ciotat.

Commissioned by Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who passed away before he could take delivery of the vessel, Venus is a highly secretive yacht with few details reaching the public domain since her launch. In this fashion, details of the new refit are also being kept under wraps. 

However, some details are known of the yacht. Her hull form was developed by De Voogt Naval Architects and her interior volume comes in at 1,500GT. She features a side-loading tender garage, Jacuzzi and beach club. Power is provided from two MTU 16V4000 diesel engines for a 3,422hp total output.

Venus joins 86m Ecstasea and 81m Air, both currently in refit at the yard’s facilities, with the former receiving a new owner’s gym, and the latter a new coat of paint alongside adaptations to her helipad.

According to Feadship, further projects are likely to be taken on, adding that it will be launching a new division called Feadship Refit and Services later this year.
