Turkish yard Su Marine has announced that its 35.6m motor yacht project CMY36 is has been launched in Turkey. Now named Laniakea, the yacht has completed her two year construction, during which few details were revealed.

Inspired by classic yachts, Laniakea features vintage-style portholes and timber detailing. Her design is the work of Osman Tanju Kalaycıoğlu of Taka Yachts, who took care of the exterior design and the naval architecture.

The hull and superstructure is built from cold-moulded wood and epoxy, and her tri-deck set up allows for an interior volume of 275GT. Made at Su Marine’s yard in Istanbul, the displacement yacht has an 8m beam and a maximum draught of 2.2m.

She comes equipped with an array of al-fresco relaxation areas, including a foredeck seating area, sheltered cockpit and extended sundeck, which holds a large tender storage space back aft.

Guests are accommodated in seven cabins, while crew quarters house two staff members.

Powered by a pair of 591hp diesel engines, Laniakea cruises at 11 knots and has a top speed of 13.5 knots. She has an impressive 30,000L fuel capacity for extended cruising.

Laniakea is the first yacht to emerge from Su Marine since the 35.6m ketch-rigged sailing yacht In Love, which was launched in 2014.
