Two Australian superyacht crew, Dylan Jones and Sam Weir, are to set off on an attempt to row across the Atlantic in aid of charity.
Known as the toughest rowing race on earth, the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge is a grueling 2,600 nautical mile journey across the Atlantic Ocean that has been completed by fewer people than the number of humans that have ventured into space.
Powered by AquaLuma and Quay Crew, the pair will take on the challenge on behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation Australia to raise awareness for the work being done by the organisation.
Dylan and Sam will take on the challenge along with 25 other teams in December this year, with their sights set on not only winning the race, but also breaking the world record for the class in which they will be taking part.
Jones commented, “The way we see it is that by being fortunate enough to have our health, we have an obligation to make the most of it.
"The children that Make-A-Wish are helping may never have the opportunities that we have. There are so many people in similar situations that would give anything to be able to travel, explore, climb a mountain, swim in the sea or any number of things that too many people take for granted. So we hope that by the two of us rowing across the Atlantic - with no prior experience in ocean rowing, we can encourage people to be active and venture outside their comfort zone a little more, to appreciate their health and what they're able to achieve."
