Superyacht project winners of the Rossinavi Design Challenge announced

The winners for the first ever Rossinavi design challenge have been announced following the brief competition commencing from December 2019 until February 2020. The 18th edition of Seatec set the stage for the exciting moment for the young superyacht designers, in collaboration with IMM CarraraFiere and supported by SuperYacht Times, The Yachts Sale YouTube channel and ModelMaker Group.

The winners are:

1st place: Italian duo Gianluca Bina and Mirko Oprinani based in Ljubljana, Slovenia

2nd place: Design team Hidden Port Side from Barcelona.

3rd place: Young Italian freelancer Giacomo Schiaroli based in London.

The Rossinavi design challenge was hosted in conjunction with the 17th edition of the Millenium Yacht Design Award (MYDA). The event presents brilliant opportunities for young designers to establish invaluable relationships and contacts with the superyacht production sector, with a great turn out of as many as 60 young designers submitting their design concepts for the awards.

Federico Rossi, Chairman of the Jury and COO of Rossinavi, commented, “We expected a good response, also in consideration of the historical success of the MYDA Award, in fact we came to the event with 60 important projects by young designers – Italian and foreign – from 17 different countries ranging from North to South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East – so we can say that the idea has been very well received. This initiative we have worked on with Seatec has been well organised and it is aimed at opening up a new opportunity for sharing success.”

Following the awards, Rossinavi will give winners complete support for the development and production of a scale model by ModelMaker Group, and supported with preparations required for the sale of the project.

The challenge was founded in 2007, born in the legacy of the Rossi Brothers who were expert welders, Fratelli Rossi. Their reputation highly established, from 1980 onwards, for high quality metal construction on fishing boat hulls.
