Superyachts at the London 2012 Olympic Games

The Thames is set to be awash with high-speed water taxis ferrying high net-worth individuals prepared to pay anything to see the Olympic Games and be at the centre of the action in the coming weeks.

London can take yachts with up to a 54 metre air draught, and up to 200 metres LOA and is preparing to welcome a large number of superyachts for the Olympic Games.  There is an array of berthing options central to the main Olympic venues.  London Docklands is offering superyacht owners the chance to spend their Olympic nights in the thriving business district of Canary Wharf.

Many larger berths in the area have been booked, however Wood Wharf, which is being developed as a centre for corporate events, can accommodate a further 20 yachts of between 25 and 60 metres in length.

It has been reported that a 70-metre vessel has secured one of the most iconic mooring slots in the world, with views of Tower Bridge, the Tower of London and the Shard.

Roman Abramovich’s Eclipse, is also anticipated to visit London during the Olympic Games.
