TAG Global Training offers new Yacht Crew Aircraft Safety course

TAG Global Training is to deliver a new Yacht Crew Aircraft Safety course for yacht crew working on private jets. Designed for crew with no previous aviation experience and highly recommended by the Maritime Training Academy, the course enables them to undertake duties on board an owner’s aircraft where cabin crew may not be present.

Private jets with under 19 seats are not legally required to carry trained cabin crew, therefore crew on a superyacht are also able to crew owners’ private jets. However, there are vital differences between being out at sea on a superyacht and flying on a private jet at 30,000 ft., which is why TAG Global Training has now expanded its offering to include the course.

Taking place over half a day, the course syllabus includes a number of important areas of aviation safety for crew, including turbulence procedures, planned and unplanned emergencies and the physiological effects of flying.

Debbie Elliott, training manager at TAG Global Training explained, “We offer this training to give the candidates a greater understanding of emergencies and scenarios on board the aircraft. They have the opportunity to open an over-wing exit, so they can understand the weight and force needed to do that. It’s about those people who work and surround the UHNWI and how they can better support that person and his or her family safely on board the aircraft.”

The course also includes Crew Resource Management (CRM), yacht-specific training that is designed for pilots and cabin crew. “We can see that the yachting community doesn’t have this training as standard. It’s about how to work as a team and how that can affect the outcome.”

The cost of the half day Aviation Safety course is £250 when delivered at the TAG Global Training facility in Farnborough, however it can also be delivered across any location worldwide. The course includes the CRM training, however a First Aid course can also be added for an additional fee of £159 per person. All prices are exclusive of VAT.
