The best 5 superyacht toys of 2019

With thanks to Superyacht Tenders & Toys, Electric Surf Sports and Lampuga

When you live and/or work within the superyacht industry, surrounded by nothing but luxury and the most expensive items money can buy, it can be difficult to find and experience something that excites you.

Everybody within the industry has an insatiable desire for exhilaration, but where do you find it?

Well, look no further than the world of superyacht toys – and in particular the best toys of 2019.

Jet Ski Being Ridden at Sea

We’ve consulted industry experts, manufacturers and suppliers to get the inside line on the best yacht toys of 2019, compiling information on both the varieties and the brands that are proving popular with crew and guests this year.

A shift in people’s behaviour and preferences, motivated by a growing awareness of the environment, has seen electric and manually driven products develop a more wide-ranging appeal to consumers.

Will these varieties infiltrate the top five, or will more traditional petrol-powered products prevail?

In no particular order, here are the five must-have, adrenaline-pumping toys of 2019. If you don’t have them on board already, what are you waiting for?

Most popular superyacht toys of 2019

Lift eFoil

Man riding a Lift eFoil

The Lift eFoil is the ‘in’ yacht toy right now. Why? Because it’s the most exhilarating, immersive and effortlessly cool toy currently on the market.

It gives people the spine-tingling sensation of flight, something I dare say we’ve all dreamed of at some point in our lives. This toy transforms you into an actual superhero, which is all anyone really wants to be!

Its manufacturer, Lift, has only had the eFoil in full production for one year but over 1,000 units of this innovative floating board have already been sold to clients worldwide.

The eFoil is making waves (pun intended) in the superyacht world for being both original and non-discriminatory. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a top water-sport athlete, the eFoil is easy to use and provides non-stop thrills.

Lift has combined the modern technology of electric vehicles with a decade of hydrofoil design and expertise to create an undeniably elegant and sophisticated ride.

Available in a range of sizes and with an array of foil options, the all-carbon fibre hydrofoil allows users to fly above the water at lightning speeds of up to 25mph (40kph), with an overall ride time of over an hour.

The eFoil uses an advanced lithium-ion battery to power a silent electric motor that’s mounted to the hydrofoil, which is controlled with a wireless Bluetooth hand controller.

The eFoil is suitable for anyone over the age of 16 who weigh less than 250 lbs (approx. 113kg).

According to our experts, it offers the greatest return-on-fun per charge than other toys currently on the market, which makes it a sure-fire winner within the superyacht industry. It’s brilliant fun to use and its two-hour recharge time means you don’t have to wait too long for it to recharge – ideal in the world of superyachts where patience is in short supply.

The eFoil provides an experience that feels as unique as it looks.

It’s as close to the perfect yacht toy as you can buy right now.

Radinn G2X electric jetboard

Radinn G2X rider

The Radinn G2X is another toy in high demand, capturing the attention of the superyacht industry for the electrifying way in which it fuses the thrills of both water and motor sports. Who says you need waves in order to shoot across the water atop a board?

Radinn worked hard to combine the freedom a surfboard provides riders with the adrenaline rush that only fast-paced motor sports evoke to create a strikingly modern jetboard that delivers best-in-class performance.

Loaded with the latest technology, including the Radinn app for diagnostics and GPS tracking, the G2X delivers jaw-dropping top speeds of up to 37mph (60kph) with a respectable 45-minute average run time. The battery is also replaceable, meaning that if you purchase a spare you can swap them over to maximise your time on the water. Another major advantage of the G2X, like all electric jetboards, is that it’s virtually silent.

The popularity of jetboards has been driven by the fact they are still relatively new to the market and can reach incredible speeds without propulsion in the form of waves.

The G2X is the most popular in 2019 and is definitely worth investing in if you want a fun way to explore the water.

RS Aero

The technologically advanced RS Aero is a different type of water toy entirely.

A single-handed sailboat, built predominantly of fibreglass, it’s a high quality product that was finessed across three years of development. After testing four different hull variations and numerous rigs, foils and layouts, manufacturer RS Sailing settled on a sailboat that would be loved by everybody who gets the chance to use it.

One of the most notable traits of the RS Aero is the fact that – for a sailboat – it’s incredibly lightweight, which of course makes it easier to handle and manoeuvre – both at sea and on shore. This is obviously a major plus point for a toy, which is predominantly designed to be easy-to-use and fun.

To ensure that there is an appropriate set-up for all ages and body builds, the boat’s designer RS Sailing has tailored three rig options: RS Aero 5 for youths, RS Aero 7 for women and light men and RS Aero 9 for men.

Once on the water, the result is a boat that completely redefines the standard for exhilaration in a single-hander. There is also the option of transforming the experience further still by introducing the new RS Aero foiling kit, which enables the sailboat to be changed from non-foiling to foiling mode in less than 15 minutes.

With so much potential for it to be used and enjoyed by everyone on board, you can’t go far wrong with a water toy option like this.

Bixpy Jet

The wonderfully versatile Bixpy Jet is simple but effective – and that’s why we love it.

The motor system can be attached to any stand-up paddleboard, kayak, canoe, dinghy or small watercraft, and can even become an underwater scooter with a particular battery attachment.

The magic lies in its wide range of adapters, which fit seamlessly with a number of kayak and SUP manufacturers.

All in, the Bixpy Jet weighs a mere 10 lbs (4.5kg) and is operated by a wireless wrist controller that offers ten forward speeds and three reverse speeds. Despite being a somewhat small motor, it does pack a punch: With 30 lbs of thrust and one horsepower, it will drive most options up to 7mph for 75 minutes of continuous use (or nearly six hours with mixed use).

The battery is sealed and airtight, which means it can be dropped in water and float.

With its versatility and power, the Bixpy Jet should be a staple water toy on board any superyacht every single year.

Schiller Bike

A Pair of Schiller Bikes being used underwater

Rounding off our run-down of the best water toys of 2019 is the it-does-exactly-what-it-says-on-the-tin Schiller Bike.

Whilst it’s not a newly released product – it’s been on the market for a few years now – its innovation ensures it remains as fresh and exciting a concept now as it did in 2015.

A hybrid of premium bike meets ultra portable catamaran, the Schiller S1 is revolutionary and provides a different dimension of pleasure on the water.

With cruising speeds of around 5mph and a top speed of over 8mph, the S1 is a toy that’s guaranteed to excite anyone who takes to the saddle. Providing an exhilarating on-water bike ride experience for people of all ages and athletic abilities, a Schiller Bike is perfect for both entertain and exploration.

Another reason why the superyacht industry is in love with it is because they’re compact and easy to stow. Any piece of equipment that requires minimum effort to set up and put away but provides lots of enjoyment is always destined to be a hit.

It’s really not hard to work out why the concept of cycling on water is still striking a chord in 2019. It’s everything a good water toy should be: unique, inclusive and wheelie good fun!

We can’t wait to find out what superyacht water toys are making a splash in the 2020s. Amphibious roller-skates, anyone?
