The London Boat Show announces new attractions for 2016

The London Boat Show has announced new attractions for 2016, expanding on its theme of adventure by offering visitors the chance to get on the water for free with its ‘Mediterranean Bay’ attraction.

Taking place during the 7th to 18th January 2016 at ExCeL London, the 62nd London Boat Show brings the latest in marine technology and experiences to Europe.

Next year's new attraction, the Mediterranean Bay, will include its own purpose-built pool and Mediterranean-themed village, overlooked by boating holiday and watersports companies. It will provide a ‘play area’ on the water, for beginners and experienced skippers to participate in boating and watersports activities.

Spanning an area of 500sqm, the pool will offer a space for visitors to test their watersports talents, including water-walking, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding; and practice their boating skills with blind steering powerboating and close-quarter yacht maneuvering, all under the watchful eye of experienced instructors.

Rockley Watersports will also be on hand to deliver a daily timetable of water seminars throughout the 10 days of the show, showcasing essential skills for any boater. There will be a range of demonstrations, including sail reefing and capsize drills.

Finally, visitors will be able to watch a range of leading innovations tested live on the pool, including liferafts from Bainbridge Marine, lifesavers and the world debut of the Hartley 15. Landau UK, the Seabob and some of the latest commercials products, including the Rotinor dive propulsions scooter, the Argus thermal imaging camera and the MLS fuel purification system, will also be on display.

Murray Ellis, managing director at British Marine Boat Shows said, “At the show, our visitors like to experience and participate in different boating activities. They really enjoy the educational and interactive elements that we offer. The Mediterrean Bay attraction at this year’s show will provide this, as well as giving visitors the chance to learn, have fun and relax in the Mediterranean surroundings.”
