Thierry Gaugain unveils 120m futuristic superyacht concept Project L

French yacht designer Thierry Gaugain has revealed his debut solo design project with SuperYachtsMonaco: the 120-metre (394-foot) hybrid superyacht concept Project L.

For two decades, Gaugain has worked in collaboration with designer Philippe Starck on projects such as Venus, Sailing Yacht A and Wedge Too.

Gaugain’s inspiration for the ‘revolutionary’ superyacht exterior came from the ‘smooth form of a beach pebble’. Meanwhile, the single-deck interior layout was designed to ‘redefine the on-board lifestyle’ and create a ‘multi-functional, open-plan family living space’.

Project L can accommodate between 12 and 26 guests, as well as an additional 40 crew members.

The superyacht’s interior will be illuminated by natural light, and will feature a spa, gym, high-tech underwater media room and glass lounge, providing beautiful ocean views.

Her exterior comprises two swimming pools, a beach club, tender garage, helipad and a ‘futuristic submarine escape pod’.
